Michael is a young Irishman on the way up; a wife and daughter he loves, good friends, a promising career. But everything begins to unravel when, through a simple act of thoughtlessness, he causes a stranger's death in an accident.

Sifiso is a bright, sharp teenager living in an informal settlement in Cape Town. Hoping for a place at university, and a better future, he is inadvertently drawn deeper into the harsh struggles of township life, and begins to ask why the new South Africa looks so much like the old.

Worlds apart, both men find themselves faced with the same question: how to be good. And when their stories unexpectedly collide, their impact on one another's lives is far greater, and more surprising, than either could have imagined.

It’s a wrap! 10th February 2012

We’re delighted to say, The Good Man has wrapped!  Last night we shot our last scene here in Cape Town – a great end to a superb couple of weeks working with the best cast and crew this side of the Sahara.  Absolutely delighted with what we’ve shot – something special happening here.  More news and info to follow, but to stay up to date most easily, head over to our facebook page and ‘like’ it: www.facebook.com/thegoodmanfilm

Belfast shoot finished! 21st January 2012

Well, we did it.  The first half of the filming is now complete, a testing, exciting, tough and ultimately successful shoot in Belfast!  Phil is now in Cape Town and well into the pre-production there, just over a week til the shoot kicks off there and everything is coming together well!

We have a new facebook page for the project, where we will be posting regular updates, press coverage, interviews and behind the scenes photos – there is already a couple of sets of photos from Ireland up to have a look at, head over to www.facebook.com/thegoodmanfilm and ‘like’ us to stay up to date!

We made it! 5th December 2011

We are DELIGHTED to report that we have reached our funding target of £60,000 – all 400 shares in The Good Man are now sold!  Thank you’s go to all of those who have believed in the project and got on board – this has been very much a community-focussed initiative and it is thrilling to be part of something genuinely new and holistic in independent film.  We have had buy-ins from Ireland, England, Scotland, the US, South Africa, even as far away as Australia!  More details coming soon re our filming dates – and a call for extras later this week!

Cork success! 14th November 2011

Just back from an amazing time in Cork.  Lovely city, wonderful festival!  And we’re delighted to have picked up two awards for ‘Even Gods’ – Best Irish Short Film and Audience Award for Irish Film.  It’s been an amazing few months for the Manifesto team, and we want to say a huge thanks again to the many people who got involved in this and gave time and talent in abundance, and especially to Lisa, Glenn & David from Canderblinks, who helped get the whole project off the ground.

Now to make a feature!  If you’re still prevaricating, push the button and get involved!

Off to Cork 7th November 2011

Yes, indeed, we are off to southern Southern Ireland this weekend on a wee road trip – Even Gods (if you haven’t seen it yet, get yourself to Cork or get over here) is screening three times at the prestigious Cork Film Festival.  Very exciting.  Phil and the brilliant Tim Millen, who wrote and recorded the music for the film (and will be doing the same for The Good Man) are heading down.  If you can make it, make it!

VOTE FOR CARCETTI! 26th October 2011

BIG NEWS. You may not have heard much from us in the last few weeks, but we’ve been beavering away behind the scenes. And how. We are extremely excited to announce that Mayor Carcetti is The Good Man! We’re delighted to welcome Aidan Gillen (The Wire, Game of Thrones) as the Irish lead in our upcoming film. We’ll be making some more cast announcements in the next week or so too. We’re planning to film in Ireland in December, with the South Africa shoot early next year. We still need some investors to make this happen though, and soon – about £10,000 still to find – now is the time to get on board!

Belfast Banter 26th September 2011

It’s not just Cape Town that looks good on camera – we were recce-ing in Belfast too recently, here are just a few shots.  All taken with my trusty, if barely holding together, Lomo LCA.

Belfast casting 6th September 2011

We’re back in Belfast after a successful planning stint in Cape Town.  Nailing down locations, getting our cast and crew in place – it’s all go.  We’re holding a casting session this Thursday in Oh Yeah in Cathedral Quarter – if you’re interested drop us a line and we’ll send you the details: info@thegoodmanfilm.com

Investment wise we are doing well, but still need your help – less than £20,000 of the £60,000 required, buy a share and help us push to the target!

Some more photos 24th August 2011

Second recce in Gugs went superbly, we’ve got pretty much all our locations nailed, which is very exciting.  Here are a few more photos to give you a feel of where we’ll be filming…
